Cinema therapy

I think my husband and I need to see this movie again before we buy a house. Considering the price point we're looking in, I think we're in for a big fixer and this might be just what we need to get us up to the task!

Somebody pinch me!

(image from Big Chill, a Boulder-based company. Gotta show the love to the homies!)
Dreams really do come true! There are people out there making new appliances in retro styles! I'm one step closer to my dream kitchen!

Recovered

(image from Elmwood Reclaimed Timber)
I have become slightly obsessed with the idea of using reclaimed hardwood floors in our new house (whenever it may be that we finally come to posses one). It has gotten to the point that I am almost a little sad if the hardwood floors in a particular house seem salvageable with refinishing. There are just so many great hues and patinas to choose from, and they just have so much more richness and character. I would love to walk across floors that were once a century-and-a-half old barn, wouldn't you?

(and while I'm at it, does anyone know where I can get a stove just like the one in the picture?)

offer #5

While we still sit waiting for the bank that owns offer #3 to contact us (it has been more than a week already!) and wait and wonder whether the first offer on #4 fell through leaving us in first place, we went ahead and submitted offer #5. It is a 1950's cottage-y 3 bedroom with a two car garage, a large usable yard and a covered patio in northwest Pasadena. We would need to scrape the popcorn ceilings and redo the floors before moving in, and probably a handful of other things but it seems to be in generally good condition and is a cute place. One of these days one of these offers has to come through for us, right?!?

Slow as...

We are still waiting to hear from the bank about whether they have accepted our offer on the 1940s bungalow in Altadena. The waiting game is such a tough one!!!

The bathroom

As soon as we get a house, I'm getting this picture for the bathroom.

I want our bathroom to be sophisticated, but I don't want it to be too fancy. It will have to be uber functional, given that the little ones tramp in and out and splash around in the bath (when they agree to a bath that is). And (hopefully soon?) they will be potty training... so our bathroom will be very much a family bathroom.

I stumbled on some bird bath images and really fell in love with the idea. It is fun and whimsical without being too childish and it is "bath" themed without being about a "bath".

Now I just need a bathroom to put this in!
